Needs Analysis

Objective

In my technical training class, I designed a needs analysis to help a technical writing staffing agency determine if potential content development candidates would benefit from SEO keyword training. Using data gathered from surveys, interviews, and job description analysis, I suggested specific learning outcomes. Overall, by offering training, the staffing agency stood to improve the marketability and retention rates of their candidates. The document highlights my ability to gather research, create findings based on data, and develop content for future training sessions.

Technical Style, Part 1: Editing for Clarity and Conciseness in Digital Content Writing

Objective

In my teaching technical writing class, I developed a lesson plan focusing on how to teach STEM professionals specific style principles to enhance their writing for a non-technical and digital audience. The lesson plan consists of a two-part workshop and provides an overview on writing and editing with conciseness and clarity. Because STEM students tend to have trouble with overstuffed sentences, wordy phrases, and needless qualifiers, I designed my lesson plan to talk about these specific problems. The lesson plan incorporates ideas from Bloom's Taxonomy and ways to ensure students understand, demonstrate, and compose stylistically correct sentences. The document highlights my ability to create, write, edit, and design content for adult workshops.
